- 133 children are held in immigration detention facilities within Australia;
- 107 children are held in detention on Nauru;
- 1,544 children are detained in the communityunder residence determinations, a system referred to as community detention; and
- 2,499 children are living in the community on bridging visas which mean their parents generally have no work rights and very limited access to any Government support. 
There are now calls for an apology amidst the allegations that led to the removal of ten- Save the Children staff from Nauru. Immigration Minister Peter Dutton has announced a review will be conducted to fully investigate the matter.
