THE TRUTH WILL SET US FREE
“Surround yourself with people who make you happy. People who make you laugh, who help you when you’re in need. People who, genuinely care. They are the ones worth keeping in your life. Everyone else is just passing through.”
I have always admired the candidness of our Domestic Violence law classes’ very first blogger. What a courageous lady to share her DV concerns for a friend, refusing to accept DV as something women must put up with!
In order to tailor the system to fairly address the NEEDS of DV victims, we must first accept and understand the public perception.
Often young DV victims are intelligent people. They are positive and quick to resolve, forgive and cover up any conflict. They do not want to be branded a troublemaker.
Yet by hiding the truth the abuser gains an intense power and continues the abuse. Young girls are taught to be polite, and not complain.
